Bruges is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Not for nothing did UNESCO put the entire historic city centre on the World Heritage list in 2000. Between the winding alleys and romantic canals, you can almost imagine yourself in the Middle Ages. Bruges is a city with many attractions. Besides its numerous museums and historical monuments, Bruges has also focused on contemporary architecture in recent years. As part of the European Capital of Culture in 2002, a number of contemporary architecture projects were realised in Bruges' city centre.
You can shop in the streets between Market Square and the old city gates. Most shops are open between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Bruges offers excellent dining options. From Flemish fries with stoverij to truly Burgundian cuisine with a Flemish beer.
